10 Creepiest Horror Movie Posters Of All Time

2. A Nightmare On Elm Street

Freddy Krueger is the most recognisable fictional serial killer, beloved by horror fans, and scattered throughout pop culture since the ‘80s. The serial child murderer burnt to death by angry parents has haunted teenage dreams in films, TV, games, and printed media.

However, the movie poster for his debut does not show Krueger in his recognisable form.

The poster features an artist’s rendition of protagonist Nancy Thompson (Heather Langenkamp) in bed. Nancy would go on to be Krueger’s most enduring enemy. She is wide-awake with creepy, lidless dead eyes. Krueger hovers above Nancy in a vague form – just his vague face and signature razor fingers.

Though Krueger does not appear fully in his iconic look he still cuts a creepy figure. The razors of his glove create a tension as they hover just above the head of a paralysed Nancy. The face shown is not classic Krueger. It is minimal but disturbing. There is the faint vision of a skull - a caved in nose, yellowing teeth, and eyeballs floating over black holes.

The bedroom invasion of a teenager by a supernatural incorporeal entity is immediately creepy upon first sight.
