10 Deaths That Movies Totally Forgot About

6. The Transporter Accident Victims - Star Trek: The Motion Picture

Star Trek: The Motion Picture features one of the gnarliest moments in the sci-fi series' history, when two of the Enterprise's officers are killed by a malfunctioning transporter.

Rather than simply imply that the transporter disintegrated the ill-fated duo into nothing, Captain Kirk (William Shatner) receives a call from Earth which paints a horrifying picture of the end result, as he's told, "What we got back didn't live long... fortunately."

That's utterly nightmarish without showing anything even remotely grisly, and yet barely five minutes later, Kirk and Uhura (Nichelle Nichols) are playfully ribbing Bones (DeForest Kelley) for being fearful of using the transporter.

Now, Bones has always been pretty iffy about the transporter, but considering that it basically melted two crew members, taking the piss out of his fear probably isn't the play here.

Kirk and Uhuara talk like Bones is just being a big ol' scaredy cat and the aforementioned malfunction never happened, which frankly makes them look like abusive colleagues, if not downright insane.
