10 Deaths That Ruined Horror Movies
6. Edward Lee - Fright Night (2011)
The 2011 remake of the Tom Holland's (not that Tom Holland) 1985 cult classic, Fright Night takes the vampire action to Vegas, for some fun in the sun for once.
Charley's (Anton Yelchin) new neighbour Jerry (Colin Farrell) is suspiciously sun-averse and emits an aura of supernatural danger, or at least that's what his friend Ed (Christopher Mintz-Plasse) seems to think. Unfortunately, Charley is more concerned with his girlfriend and popularity than with listening to one of Ed's crackpot theories and dismisses him out of hand. One thing leads to another, and soon Ed is a vampire. Oh, and David Tennant is in it too, adding flair to the cast as eyelinered stage magician Peter Vincent, who hasn't really got the stones to face the undead, at least not at first.
To save his pal and fight his neighbour, Charley has to convince Peter to partner up with him and stab Jerry with a stake blessed by Saint Michael that will turn all his victims humans again. Easy enough. But Charley takes Ed out the game for good. Ed was right, he was decent, and he got nowhere for it. This could -- should -- have been his redemption, and yet Charley made sure the nice guy finished last. So, what's the moral of this story?
We don't know why we bother.
