10 Directors Who Should Have Their Filmmaking Rights Revoked

7. Tim Burton

His signature style is revered and loved by so many that in the late 80s and early 90s, he was one of the best directors around. With the exception of the entirely off-style Big Fish, Burton's recent work has become nothing but louder, CGI versions of what once made him great. Alice in Wonderland is a CGI mess that loses all identity when you realise nothing about it is real, Dark Shadows is a terrible digitally licked, misjudged remake of a TV show that nobody but Burton cared about, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory just begs the question 'why?'. Burton needs to stop before it€™s too late; his movies have become nothing but empty vehicles for Johnny Depp to play dress up over and over again. Tim Burton's greatest work comes from a love of all things magical in cinema - stop motion, miniature models, films that lie in the real world with a hint of magic and all things Harryhausen - in a cinematic world so full of CGI, unless he maintains focus on flicks like Frankenweenie or the aforementioned Big Fish, there is no place for Tim anymore. Oh and if you are an actress and you see a female lead up for grabs in a Burton flick, don't bother, Helena Boham Carter already has it. Best Film: Beetlejuice (1988) Most Recent Travesty: Alice in Wonderland (2010)
