10 Directors Whose Debut Movie Ended Their Careers

6. Joel Gallen - Not Another Teen Movie (2001)

Joel Gallen was the guy responsible for giving you a few laughs (but mostly not) when he found himself in the driver's seat for 2001 teen comedy spoof Not Another Teen Movie, which is kind of amusing in places, but also kind of isn't.

Given that it made back its budget four times over, though, Gallen probably could have wormed his way into another director's job (on a Scary Movie or something), but decided directing movies wasn't for him after all. A noble decision, really, given that it probably spared us an ill-judged sequel or something.

According to Gallen, he didn't enjoy the pressures associated with being a bigshot Hollywood filmmaker, and returned to the world he knew best: TV, where he went on to direct stuff for Comedy Central.

Anyway, this guy was responsible for that America: A Tribute to Heroes benefit concert in the aftermath of 9/11, which bagged him an Emmy. So, yeah, lay off.
