10 Disappointing Films That Let Us Down The Most in 2012
4. The Dark Knight Rises The Hype: Um, hello? It's the conclusion of Christopher Nolan's Bat-trilogy. Literally everyone loves Batman. Everyone loves Christopher Nolan. Everyone who made The Dark Knight so beloved was back. Anticipation was at a fever pitch in the days leading up to this film's release. Any critic who dare suggest it was anything but a masterpiece was subject to heaps of online vitriol. The Reality: Much like Brave, this film goes through the motions of making sense and being populated with human beings without actually going to the trouble of having those things. It's incredibly silly, which I actually wouldn't hold against it if it weren't so dour so much of the time. There's a reason Anne Hathaway's Catwoman (Oops, no wait, she's not actually called Catwoman. That would be silly) is the best part about it. It's just a mess.
