10 Disastrous Movies That Actors And Directors Still Haven't Recovered From

2. John Travolta - Battlefield Earth

Battlefield Earth
Warner Bros.

John Travolta had already experienced the highs and lows of movie stardom having previously suffered a downturn in fortunes following his early success in Saturday Night Fever and Grease, but found himself back in favor following Pulp Fiction over a decade later.

Seizing his second bite at the apple, Travolta quickly rose back up the Hollywood ranks after a string of hits including Get Shorty, Michael, Phenomenon, Broken Arrow, Face/Off and The General's Daughter, but embracing his well-known beliefs in Scientology was a huge misstep, resulting in one of the worst movies ever made and irreparable damage to his standing.

Ever since Battlefield Earth tanked at the box office and was torn apart by critics, Travolta's career trajectory has been sliding increasingly downward, and you're now a whole lot more likely to find him in a bargain basement actioner than anything that stands a real chance of success.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
