9. Atlantis: The Lost Empire
Despite recent rumours of a live-action Atlantis: The Lost Empire, chances of seeing this underwater tale remade seem slim for many reasons.
The first key reason is the box office under-performance of Atlantis: The Lost Empire. The film bombed at the box office making only $186.1 million worldwide on a budget of $120 million, losing Disney millions in the process. Similarly to Treasure Planet, it is unlikely Disney would back a live-action remake of a box office bomb.
Combining with the poor box office returns to dismantle hopes of a live-action Atlantis remake would be the budget needed for the film, as movies filming on and under water require very high budgets compared to films set on land as shown by the Pirates of the Caribbean films and Aquaman's large budgets.
