10 Disturbing Life Lessons Disney Movies Teaches You

5. All Men Are Pigs If Not Princes

Walt Disney Screencaps Gaston Walt Disney Characters 31944510 2560 1440 This one is primarily aimed at women. Beauty and the Beast is different from the other Disney films in that the prince is a monster for most of the film before becoming the handsome good guy at the end while for most of the movie the handsome guy, Gaston, is the evil villain. Gaston, the super macho, extremely misogynistic suitor of Belle is one of the only times in Disney films that the none prince male is presented as a good looking guy. Usually all men who do not fit into the prince mold are depicted as ugly or stupid. The palace guards from Aladdin, the soldiers from Mulan, and the citizens of Paris in The Hunchback of Notre Dame are all examples. What this has led to is a whole group of girls who infuriatingly pass over a multitude of interested guys because he doesn't fit their image of "Prince Charming," to pick the one dude out of the bunch whose dark and mysterious ways really mean that he is a total douche bag who treats her like garbage. Then when he dumps her, she will gather her friends so they all can collectively sigh, "Why is so hard to find a good man?" All the while a handful of good guys are being rejected each week when they ask for a date. Yes, hotties, this is your cue to line up to leave really nasty comments about this article at the bottom, but before you do, stop for a moment to recollect all of the jerks you dated before settling on the man who made you happy. See, just because he didn't ride around on horseback slaying dragons doesn't mean he didn't exist.
