10 Dumb Decisions In The MCU We Can't Forgive

8. Dropping The Ball With "Demon In The Bottle"

If you're a comic book fan, you'll no doubt know all about "Demon in the Bottle." A classic Iron Man story from the minds of David Michelinie and Bob Layton, it dealt with Tony Stark's alcoholism and Justin Hammer's attempts to exploit that and finally put an end to his old foe. It was an epic, complex tale which is rightly considered a classic.

Iron Man 2 attempted to adapt that and, honestly, it was a total disaster. The sequel was forced to try balancing "Demon in the Bottle" with setting up The Avengers, and the PG-13 nature of the MCU meant that Tony Stark's drinking problems boiled down to him acting the fool at a party and his buddy Rhodey stealing his original armour.

Marvel Studios would have been better off just leaving this well alone rather than not doing the storyline justice; yes, they've taken liberties over the years, but this was one time they spectacularly dropped the ball. It was one bad decision in a movie full of them, and once Disney took control of Marvel, it became clear that Tony's drinking days were over.
