10 Dumbest Character Resurrections In Star Wars History
3. Darth Sidious
And now we come to the main man himself, Emperor Sheev "The Senate" Palpatine.
Sheev is undoubtedly the main villain of all three trilogies, acting as the antithesis to the Skywalker family. This was not always the case as admitted by J.J. Abrams. Snoke and Kylo were meant to be the main villains of the sequel trilogy with the former taking on the role Palpatine did prior.
However, due to Rian Johnson killing off the pimp-coated baldy, Abrams was left to dig through the Star Wars discard pile for a "new" threat. In the rather divisive decision to bring back old Palps we learn that a clone of the Emperor managed to survive on the planet Exegol.
The idea of a clone is not outside the realm of possibility for Star Wars, after all, Jango had millions of them and we know Sheev had several contingency plans in the event of his death. Even in Legends, Luke had to hunt down and destroy several clones of the Emperor.
What makes this resurrection dumb is how left field it all is. Palpatine had no set up during the final three movies, and the simple "I made Snoke!" wasn't impressing anyone.
