10 Easy Steps To Save Will Smith's Career

4. Don't Shy Away From TV

Fresh Prince
NBC

A rumour went around last year that Will Smith was executive producing a Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air reboot, until Smith came out and told Vanity Fair that he'd only do that "pretty close to when hell freezes over". That was a good call, since overseeing a recasting of your own star-making role is a dumb idea for anyone. There are definitely better small screen projects that Smith could work on.

He could tackle several of the previous points on this list through an alliance with a TV network or a streaming service - he could star in a serious indie-aping drama for HBO, he could make a comedy comeback with a new sitcom, or he could even return to a beloved role. Surely everyone would rather see a Fresh Prince sequel series than a reboot?

Just picture it: Will Smith (the fictionalised Fresh Prince version, now almost 50) is struggling through a midlife crisis and fighting to make ends meet, when a runaway rich kid (Carlton's son?) shows up on his doorstep asking for a place to live. Comedy ensues. Comedy that Netflix would probably throw a lot of money at, and viewers would flock to.
