10 Endings That Make Movies Impossible To Rewatch

1. The Aliens Invading Earth Can't Touch Water - Signs

Ah, M. Night Shyamalan again – a director whose plot twists have become so predictable that the only plot twist he could pull that would have any power to shock would be no plot twist at all. But it wasn’t so much Shyamalan’s old switcheroo – that the tragedies suffered by former preacher Graham, played by Hollywood’s favourite racist Mel Gibson, and his family were all cryptic warning signs from god about a forthcoming alien invasion – that spoiled Signs, but its quite literally watered-down ending.

After teasing audiences with some genuinely scary moments (the brief glimpse we get of an alien in the Brazilian birthday party video is a bona fide jump scare) it turns out that the big, bad alien invaders have one fatal Achilles heel – H₂O.

Yep, a race of super-intelligent alien beings apparently advanced enough to travel many millions of intergalactic miles through space are not bright enough to consider the impracticalities of invading a planet that is 71% water. Gone is the promise of terrifying alien invaders, replaced by beings easily defeated by Joaquin Phoenix and a glass water.
