One of the more unexpected announcements regarding Toy Story 4 is that it's going to be written by Parks and Recreation's Rashida Jones and actor Will McCormack. Their only major writing credit to date is their collaboration on middling indie dramedy Celeste and Jesse Forever (also starring Jones), which is more than a little worrying to say the least. Though the pair will be working from a story conceived by Pixar legends John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, Pete Docter and Lee Unkrich, whether the movie succeeds ultimately now rests in the hands of Jones and McCormack: Lasseter will either pull off another masterpiece or a total dud dependent on the strength of that script. Given that each prior Toy Story movie had experienced screenwriters attached (Joss Whedon, Andrew Stanton and Michael Arndt), it's rather worrying that TS4 is being left in the hands of two people who have only written one basically OK feature film to date, one that has little relation to Toy Story in any way, no less. Of all the worries for this movie, a writing team consisting of mostly untested new blood is right at the top.
