4. Passing The Torch From Woody & Buzz To New Toys
One of the common responses surrounding this new sequel is that it might not be so bad if Pixar decide to pass the torch from Woody and Buzz to a new group of toys, essentially giving the series a soft reboot while gracefully allowing the toys everyone knows and loves to fade into the background, making occasional appearances at best. Though Pixar absolutely won't make TS4 without either of the two protagonists, if the movie acts as a transition for a host of charming new characters, then it could elongate the franchise without seeming too crass or perfunctory. It's still going to be a challenge, though, because characters as charming and loveable as Woody and Buzz don't come along every day. Still, if the movie puts Woody and Buzz in the background, then those fans who dismissed the film ahead of release might actually calm down and approach it on its own terms. To focus on telling a new adventure starring a new host of toys is the right thing to do, even though Pixar won't be able to resist milking the cowboy and the spaceman as long as possible.
