8. An Immobilized Leonardo DiCaprio Fighting Rattlesnakes, Skunks, And Wolves - The Revenant
The next effort from Birdman director and current awards-season It-guy Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, The Revenant, goes back to the 19th century to pit Leonardo DiCaprioplaying fur trapper Hugh Glassagainst a bear. Spoiler: DiCaprio loses. A bloody mess after the man-versus-beast confrontation, his injuries get insults heaped onto them when his three friends (played by Tom Hardy, Domnhall Gleeson, and Will Poulter) rob him and leave him for dead. In classic western form, DiCaprios vengeful Glass recovers and tracks his former crew down. And while the climax of the film may be rather anticlimactic (at least, if the film sticks to its source material), you can fully expect that the events leading up to that ending will be the most memorable. More specifically, what happens to DiCaprio's character after he survives the bear attack. The character endures against all odds and embarks on a 3,000-mile-long vengeful pursuit of his shameful betrayers. In fact, he can't even walk initially and crawls much of the way, eating bugs and defending himself against rattlesnakes, wolves and even a skunk. Just picture the "cerebral palsy" scene from The Wolf Of Wall Street, but with some deadly wildlife thrown into the mix for good measure.
