At the end of Alien, Ripley is left alone to battle the Xenomorph. As she preps the escape shuttle for launch, she strips down to a tiny pair of panties and a tight white sleeveless shirt, possibly because things are about to get hot in there - in more than one sense. Alien is full of phallic and sexual imagery and many commentators believe that the film is actually a metaphor for the sexual repression of women - from Ash trying to suffocate Ripley by stuffing a rolled-up porno magazine down her throat to the chestburster scene which, in many ways, is what it would feel like for a man to give birth for the first time. And in the final fight with the Xenomorph, Ripley, scantily clad, wrestles with this large, elongated, slimy, slippery creature, and... well, we all know what happens in the later movies. Sexiest Moment: Despite Ripley being a strong, feminist symbol, director Ridley Scott couldn't resist and had to throw in a little glimpse of Sigourney Weaver's ass in the shuttle prep scene.
