10 Essential Marvel Teams Not Yet Used In The Movies

4. The Invaders

Dark Avengers
Marvel Comics

Another possible period piece for Marvel to explore, the Invaders were a band of super-people fighting on the side of the Allies in World War II, with Captain America, Bucky, the original Human Torch, Namor, and other iconic and patriotic heroes of the time invading enemy lines and fighting the Nazis and their equally enhanced HYDRA powers and weaponry.

Perhaps existing in an alternate reality (as audiences are expecting to see in Avengers 4) or existing alongside Cap's adventures in a different locale in the same World War II era, having the Invaders come together for classic comics' black and white, good vs. evil brawl against genocidal maniacs of the era, set to the backdrop of the MCU's realistic moral complexity and including the more tragic ends for all these heroes, will add gravitas to the modern tones set by most of the MCU's films and TV series.

Given the success of Wonder Woman and the precedent set by Captain America, the MCU still has a lot to explore when it comes to superheroes transplanted into a real life war setting, and the actual battles glossed over in montage in The First Avenger deserve more exploration.
