7. The Power Goes Out - Halloween II (Television Cut)

On the surface, this may seem like a very minor addition to the story, but one that makes a lot of sense when viewing the much-maligned Television Cut of Halloween II. In the film's standard version, there's a very clear point in the film where the hospital goes from fully lit to eerily dark for no apparent reason.

Many would simply assume that the lights were shut-off during the night so patients could sleep, but that doesn't explain why everywhere else in the hospital is in total darkness, save for a few emergency lights.

An excised scene that was placed in Television Cut - presumably to bump up the run-time after excising all the gore - shows that the power suddenly goes out whilst Mrs. Alves and some of the other nurses have come into Laurie's room to forcefully sedate her.

Not only does this scene show why the hospital is suddenly plunged into darkness, but it also explains why Laurie is later found to be catatonic, as this was the second dose of powerful sedatives she'd been given that night, the first of which was administered by a very drunk Doctor Mixter when she first arrived at the hospital.
