10 Exact Moments That Doomed Horror Movie Villains
6. Seth Uses The Telepod Drunk - The Fly
We've all done dumb things after a few drinks, though you've probably never irreversibly altered your own genetic structure after chugging like a whole bottle of champagne, no?
To be completely fair to The Fly's Seth Brundle (Jeff Goldblum), he's basically the textbook example of a tragic villain - a genius scientist who flew too close to the sun and paid for his hubris with an horrific demise.
His path to oblivion was set in stone the second that Seth, believing his partner Veronica (Geena Davis) to have returned to her creepy ex, got wasted and decided to test out his telepods, which are theoretically able to teleport organic matter.
Against better sober judgment, Seth gets into the pod and doesn't realise that a fly has flown into it with him, resulting in their molecular forms being fused together.
Throughout the rest of the film Seth is increasingly transformed into a grotesque man-fly hybrid with psychotic tendencies, resulting in Veronica reluctantly shooting him dead with a shotgun in the film's devastating climax.
