4. League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen had the potential to be a fantastic movie, yet once again, Alan Moore's disdain for Hollywood is proven right, as his beloved project is summarily given a $78 million trashing, taking everything complex and entertaining about the source material and distilling it for a young, kiddie audience. Given how the LXG comic books were aimed at adults, this just ended up pissing a lot of people off, though the film did to its credit take about 2-and-a-half times its budget at the box office. A reboot should hew closer to the graphic novel rather than introduce characters for American audiences - Tom Sawyer, anyone? - while handling a larger budget to accomodate the litany of battle scenes that were in the comics, yet curiously curiously cut from the 2003 film. Hire a director more experienced with big-budget blockbusters, and then just watch the money - and critical acclaim - come rolling in.
