4. Tropic Thunder (Tropic Thunder)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CeZJqchIBw4 Nope, not the comedy Tropic Thunder, but the "actual" Tropic Thunder, which - in the film's genuinely stunning opening sequence - looks to be one of the most explosive and exciting Vietnam movies ever made. Starring a whole host of fictional actors, including Kirk Lazarus (Robert Downey Jr.'s spot-on hybrid of method actors like Christian Bale and diva-ish stars like Russell Crowe) and Tugg Speedman (Ben Stiller's satirical take on action movie stars), Tropic Thunder looks to be a balls to the walls blast. And look at the production values on this thing! Aside from having some actually excellent cinematography, the scene where the helicopter - comedy flick or no comedy - explodes even rivals the action spectacle of Apocalypse Now. Granted, all the faux-sentimentality and the fact that it looks like a bizarro-world version of every Vietnam movie ever would likely riddle it unwatchable, we still can't help but feel like Tropic Thunder would be one of the most incredible war movies ever. Probably.
