10 Famous Actors That Debuted In Horror Movies
3. Clint Eastwood - Revenge Of The Creature (1955)
An unlikely victim of Hollywood's old contract system is none other than movie legend Clint Eastwood. Years before he was sweeping award shows clean, Eastwood was a young actor under the command of Universal Pictures. Aside from posing for an endless slew of "beefcake" photos, this meant he would appear in some truly B-grade films.
Eastwood's first speaking role came in 1955 and it just happened to in be a horror film. Eager to repeat the success of the previous year's Creature From the Black Lagoon, Universal quickly greenlit Revenge of the Creature.
Unfortunately Eastwood shows none of the charisma and and tough-guy charm that would dominate his later rolls. Revenge of the Creature has him playing the uncredited part of Jennings, a lab assistant that has some awkward comedic dialogue regarding his lab rats.
Sadly, seeing Clint Eastwood deliver lines that are supposed to elicit laughs in a horribly stilted way is toe-curlingly awkward. It's almost impossible to believe we are watching a man that would later dominate Hollywood and be a critical darling.
Soon after, Eastwood was dropped by Universal, but would find his tough guy niche with the television series Rawhide, and a legend was born. It's likely Clint's days under the command of Universal are some he'd like to forget now.
