Korean fairy tales are dark enough to turn the Brothers Grimm into cowering wrecks, if A Tale Of Two Sisters is anything to go by.

Based on The Story of Rose and Lotus from local folklore, this 2003 offering is a family-drama, wrapped in a psychological thriller with added supernatural horror in case the wicked stepmother doesn't s**t you up enough.

A Tale Of Two Sisters has everything a horror hound could ever ask for - suspense, tension, chills and a bucketload of gore. Sure, the story is convoluted thanks to a late plot twist but it's nothing a repeat viewing won't fix.

Viewers will probably want to skip the cupboard scene the second time around. Anyone who has experienced its sheer trauma will know what we're talking about.

Who knew that furniture could be so terrifying?
