10 Fascinating Facts About Captain Marvel (2019)

6. Carol Danvers Is Never Referred To As 'Captain Marvel' In The Film

Carol Danvers has gone by the name of Captain Marvel for the last decade, and even though Brie Larson plays the title character, she's never actually referred to as 'Captain Marvel' during the course of the film. The closest it actually comes to giving her a name is when Fury is singing The Marvelettes during the ending, but no one ever addresses her by her superhero title at any point.

It's a little weird, admittedly, but it turns out it might be intentional. In the comics, it's actually Captain America who encourages Danvers to take on the title of Captain Marvel, and though the context of that comic is far removed from what's actually occurring on the big screen, it would seem as though Steve Rogers and Carol will have a lot in common come Endgame.

Chris Evans is due to bow out of the MCU after the release of the next Avengers, while Larson is set to become the franchise's leading force. It's a tale of two captains, and though fans are yet to see how they interact onscreen, expect the name to come into play at some point.
