10 Fatal Mistakes That Ruined The DCEU

6. Announcing Movies And Then Doing Nothing With Them

The DCEU may already be eight movies deep, with another seven tentatively scheduled to arrive before the end of 2022, but almost as many projects have been announced at some stage or another only to either remain stuck in development hell, or be abandoned completely as the studio quickly loses interest and moves onto something else.

Cyborg's solo debut was originally set to be released three weeks ago, but it seems a virtual certainty that we'll never even see him again, while The Flash was first announced in October 2014 but isn't expected to start shooting until next year with current director Andy Muschietti the fourth person that's been hired for the job.

Batgirl is still looking for a director to replace Joss Whedon, a Green Lantern reboot was announced six years ago but hasn't moved any further forward, Ava DuVernay's New Gods is apparently still in the works, nobody's heard anything about Chris McKay's Nightwing for over two years, while every once in a while the conversation eventually circles back round to the Man of Steel sequel that still remains a pipe-dream.

You can also add Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Gotham City Sirens, Deathstroke, Lobo, Plastic Man, Supergirl, a Deadshot spinoff and an untitled Harley Quinn and Joker movie to the list of projects that Warner Bros. have announced at one stage or another, which only goes to show the scattershot approach that characterized their initial approach to their shared comic book franchise.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
