The Alien star surprised everyone in 1992 when she hacked off her hair to reprise her role as Ripley in Alien 3. David Finchers instalment of the quadrilogy saw Ripley and Sigourney Weaver take on a whole new look with her space shave. The underappreciated third movie sees Ripley crash land on a prison planet with yet another facehugger on board. When a dog gets all John Hurt on the situation, exploding into an Alien, Ripley is faced with yet another killer E.T. Armed with a new tight barnet, Ripley roars into action again (with a slightly worse result). Weavers role as Ripley is one of the most iconic female roles of all time, charged with challenging gender roles and being ridiculously cool. Known as the Queen of Sci-fi, the sixty-four year old showed that you dont need hair to be a heroine.
