2. Persis Khambatta - Star Trek: The Motion Picture
The pioneer of the female bald head in films, Persis Khambatta was the striking Lieutenant Ilia in the original Star Trek. Catching the eye of Trekkies and non-Trekkies alike, the striking beauty shaved off her hair way back in 1979. A former model and Miss Universe contestant the Star Trek role was the biggest of her career. Originally supposed to play the role for five years, in the understanding that it would be a TV series, Khambatta said she was glad that it became a film instead. The Bombay bombshell was aware however that this had cost her five years of work. Although continuing to act in smaller roles, Khambatta never again got a part as memorable as the bald-headed Ilia. Tragically Khambatta died of a heart-attack on the 18th August 1998 in her hometown of Mumbai. She was the first ever Indian woman to present an award at the Oscars.
