10 Films Hollywood Could Remake With All Female Casts

7. The Three Musketeers

The Original: D’Artagnan (Michael York), a young swordsman, arrives in Paris and helps the King’s musketeers (Oliver Reed, Frank Finlay and Richard Chamberlin) in their fight against Cardinal Richelieu (Charlton Heston).

The Remake: Rebecca De Mornay, Mena Suvari and Milla Jovovich each appeared in the subsequent film versions, and it’s tempting to suggest them for the roles of the Musketeers (or if the studios want to be “current”, then Kristen Stewart, Emma Stone and Scarlett Johansson will do). Throw in Shailene Woodley as D’Artagnan and you’ve got a franchise.

Would It Work? Remember Dogtanian And The Three Muskahounds, the Spanish-Japanese cartoon where all the characters were dogs? If you can get away with that, then an all-female version of the Dumas story should be plain sailing. It certainly couldn’t be any worse than The Musketeer, the 2001 film that starred Justin Chambers, Nick Moran and Arthur Fowler from Eastenders.
