10 Films Hollywood Could Remake With All Female Casts

5. The Magnificent Seven

Magnificent Seven
United Artists

The Original: Steve McQueen, Yul Bryner, Robert Vaughn, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, Brad Dexter and Horst Buchholz team up to defeat Eli Wallach, whose bandits are terrorizing a small town.

The Remake: Antoine Fuqua currently has a remake in the works (starring Cam Gigandet) so an all-female version wouldn’t need to work too hard to improve upon it. Let’s put Uma Thurman and Rose Byrne in the Steve McQueen and Yul Bryner roles, backed by Margot Robbie, Amber Heard, Kate Mara, Emilia Clarke and Jordana Brewster. Salma Hayek, who was also in Bandidas, gets the Eli Wallach role

Would It Work? That’s the problem - no female-fronted western has ever wowed the critics. Roger Ebert called Bad girls “lame” and “a sad movie” while The Quick And The Dead was labelled a “violently dull piece of schlock” by The Wall Street Journal. Plus, how many of you actually saw Bandidas?
