10 Films Hollywood Could Remake With All Female Casts

4. Heat

Heat Robert De Niro Val Kilmer
Warner Bros.

The Original: Robert De Niro and Al Pacino, onscreen together for the first time (after appearing separately in The Godfather Part II), play cops and robbers in Michael Mann’s 1995 classic.

The Remake: Who on Earth could follow an act like that? If the film aspires to quality, expect to see fellow Oscar winners Penelope Cruz in the Pacino role and Charlize Theron as her bank robbing nemesis. (Or if it’s a rip-off from The Asylum, Kristanna Loken and Brigitte Nielsen).

Would It Work? Heat was a reworking of Mann’s TV movie LA Takedown, which ought to silence the armchair critics who bemoan the remake’s lack of originality. Plus, who doesn’t want to see Charlize Theron as a machine gun wieldinging bank robber with an all-female crew?
