10 Films That Risk Being 2015's Biggest Box Office Failures

5. Monster Trucks

How many people even know that this movie exists? Originally announced in July 2013, Monster Trucks was shot in Canada last year and is still slated to be released on May 29 despite the fact that not a shred of promotional material has been seen so far. Unless the movie changes its release date or goes on an all-out marketing blitz in the next few months, its very unlikely that it turns out to be a hit. The ensemble cast features a mix of up-and-coming talents like Amy Ryan and Lucas Till alongside veteran character actors Danny Glover, Rob Lowe and Barry Pepper but besides that, virtually nothing is known about the project outside of the fact that it is a hybrid of live-action and computer animation that obviously has something to do with monster trucks, a lack of solid information which is unheard of for a $100m summer release that is just four months away from landing in theaters. Director Chris Wedge forays into live-action for the first time after helming animated features Ice Age, Robots and Epic, all of which did solid box office numbers, but the quiet surrounding Monster Trucks doesn't bode well for a blockbuster so close to release during one of the busiest summers in recent memory. If Monster Trucks meets its release date, it could score a decent opening as the first family-friendly release of the season, but the imminent arrivals of Inside Out and Minions will obliterate its chances of box office success in a matter of weeks.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
