10 Films That Teased Great Sequels (That Never Happened)

1. 28 Weeks Later

Dark Knight Rises Joseph Gordon Levitt
20th Century Fox

28 Weeks Later feels like a collection of good ideas for a zombie movie which ended up being a fairly by-the-book final product. Moments like the opening sequence are incredibly tense as Robert Carlyle runs from a fleet of zombies but the rest of the film follows a rather forgettable group of characters overcome extravagant set pieces.

The final shot of this film, however, sees a bunch of the flesh eaters emerging from a tunnel to reveal the Eiffel Tower in the background. The concept of the zombies invading Paris looked like we were going to see the rage virus spread on a global level compared to the exclusively British based 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later.

However, straight after this shot it cuts to black and we are left wondering what happens next. Considering it has been over a decade since 28 Weeks Later debuted with only fleeting talks of a sequel, referred to as '28 Months Later' in keeping with tradition, this much anticipated invasion of Europe may never make it on screen.

An avid cinephile, love Trainspotting (the film, not the hobby), like watching bad films ironically (The Room, Cats) and hate my over-reliance on brackets (they’re handy for a quick aside though).
