10 Glorious Deaths In Forgettable Films

1. New Life Brings Death (Life)

If you sign up Ryan Reynolds to helm a highly anticipated horror-thriller in space and then parade him around our screens in a string of enticing press-junkets, only to murdered him in the first act of the movie, you should have more than got our attention.

Life struggled to redefine a genre that had been so masterfully directed by those before it. Beats from Ridley Scott's Alien are traced repeatedly and it leaves the viewer feeling as though they've seen this 'space-crew trapped in their own vessel' movie before.

However, one death cannot be ignored.

Rory Adams (Reynolds) attempts to rescue one of his fellow crew, who had been locked inside an enclosure with a newly discovered deadly life-form, only to find himself concealed inside the glass cage by David Jordan (Jake Gyllenhal), the on board physician. Jordan's plan being to trap the clear threat in an isolated space.

Attempting to incinerate the life-form (Calvin) Adams soon finds out that this little bugger can adapt fast. Calvin intrudes into Adams' body - entering through his mouth - and begins to gorge on the man's internal organs, until the organism emerges from Adams' gob looking like he's been hitting the weights.

Reynolds heroic demise withstands the dreaded curse of Alien-fatigue and gives us a miniature terror that is capable of tearing you apart from the inside - even if the rest of the flick just drifts off into space.
