10. Listen To The Kid/ Old Lady
The wisdom of children and the elderly is questioned more often than any other age group, so it makes sense that horror movies reveal the truth of the situation to them first. The child, often portrayed as the beacon of innocence, usually ends up being the protagonist or close to them, while the elderly usually act as prophetic warning. Neither is heeded by the other characters, of course, and they always end up paying for it. These classic horror tropes have taught us that if you want to be a step ahead of the enemy, you should always listen to the kid or old lady. Imagine if Laurie Strode immediately considered what the child was worried about. Shed have been at least a little more prepared, maybe even able to warn her friends. Of course, none of them would have listened because no one listens to the kid.
