10 Great Blockbusters Held Back By A Terrible Lead Performance
1. Hayden Christensen - Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith
Following on from his laughable efforts in Attack of the Clones, many Star Wars fans were right to be concerned about how Hayden Christensen would fare when tasked with concluding one of the franchise's most important story arcs when Anakin Skywalker's turn to the dark side was completed in Revenge of the Sith.
While his performance was undoubtedly hugely improved from his stilted work in the previous movie, it still wasn't up to scratch given the narrative stakes. As a whole, Revenge of the Sith offered up plenty of thrilling action-driven spectacle and is the best of the prequel trilogy by some distance, but audiences never once felt convinced that Christensen's portrayal of Anakin was believable enough to convince you that he would eventually become the most feared man in the entire galaxy.
That being said, the movie still managed to succeed almost in spite of the leading man's limitations as an actor, but certain Star Wars aficionados will always feel let down by George Lucas' poor judgement when it came to casting the man who would become go on to become Darth Vader.
