10 Great Horror Movie Characters Who Die At The Beginning

While the Jason Voorhoes-led horror saga is not exactly the best the genre has to offer, the Friday the 13th franchise is still immensely popular despite not doing all that much to add to horror or cinema in general. This strange appeal in low effort can be seen in the second entry that was released in 1978, a carbon copy of the 1980 original save for a handful of unexpected moves.

Aside from focusing on Jason rather than his mother Pamela, the sequel's first few minutes end with the sudden death of Alice Hardy (Adrienne King), the previous feature's only survivor. Before her demise, Alice is back home and recovering from her encounter with Pamela. As she goes to her kitchen to get some food, she sees the Voorhees matriarch's head in her fridge and is promptly murdered by Jason.

Ignoring the inconsistencies in the scene (how did Jason find her?), killing off Alice was a shock to Friday fans as conventional wisdom at the time suggested that the first film's final girl was going to make it through her second go-around.
