10 Great Marvel Characters Yet To Appear In A Movie
8. Carnage
While Venom's appearance in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 didn’t work out too well for fans, it did prove that there was more than enough goodwill for the character to work again in a better context.
Should Venom be re-launched in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, under the Spider-Man umbrella, then his face-turn will no doubt follow down the line. And that's where Carnage comes in for some balance.
Quite how far along all of this might happen will depend strongly on the direction Marvel take with the Spider-Man: Homecoming film. Director Jon Watts has yet to confirm the involvement of any villains, despite some rumours of Vulture appearing.
We may have to wait for a while before the inevitable money-making Venom storyline kicks in - if at all, given that Sony are still supposedly keen to make their own Spidey spin-offs.
The concept of Carnage being able to transfer itself from one person to another has created a few interesting avenues of exploration. In the comics Carnage has bonded to Spider-Man and the Silver Surfer. The potential for him bonding to any number of Marvel’s current crop of heroes is an interesting story just waiting to happen.
