10 Great Movie Characters Ruined By Awful CGI
3. Dain Ironfoot - The Hobbit
Looking back at Smaug's scenes in The Hobbit, you could be forgiven for believing that Peter Jackson was right to go with a more CG-heavy approach for his second Middle Earth trilogy. But you'd be wrong, because Smaug doesn't live in a vacuum and there's way too much about the rest of the trilogy that lets the overall picture down.
Undoubtedly the worst comes in The Battle of The Five Armies, which ended up being the worst possible testament to how rushed ackson was throughout the films' productions. The shoot was a mess, but even worse, the post-production took one of the most legendary dwarf warriors - Dain Ironfoot and made him a fully CG character to distract from Billy Connolly's delightful voice performance.
He's supposed to be a fearsome, legendary figure capable of inspiring blood-chilling fear, but the cartoonish CG version (he looks infinitely better when they leave Connolly's real face in there) is just cringe-worthy. That this monstrosity came out in 2014 should be a source of endless embarrassment.
