10 Great Movie Characters Ruined By Awful CGI
4. Electro - The Amazing Spider-Man 2
The Amazing Spider-Man gets a lot of heat and if you don't actually watch it, you'd be forgiven for thinking at least some of it is a little over-zealous. But then any proximity to the thing reveals that it's a bloated, unfocused mess than botches great characters, great story moments and doesn't even have the decency to commit to its own story as it eyes up a shared universe.
If you thought Paul Giamatti in a giant Rhino suit was the worst of the film's effects, you'd be close, but the real stand-out is Jamie Foxx's Electro. He doesn't look entirely terrible in design terms at least, but his "origin sequence" that shows him picking up his powers thanks to big tank of angry mutant eels is both ridiculous and horribly achieved with some laughable CGI.
You can't really hold the eels looking dumb against him, but he obviously caught that disease from them when they savaged him as well, because after his transformation the effects work into him is right up there with how bad Venom was in Spider-Man 3. The comic book character deserved WAY better than this and if you don't agree he's a great character, go back and read 'Power To The People' again.
