10 Great Movies Starring The American Horror Story Cast

Kathy Bates was a celebrated actress long before she ever arrived on American Horror Story, but when she first appeared in its third season, Coven, it was clear that she was in the right place.

However, Bates is no stranger to the dark and unsettling, as she'd previously starred (quite famously) in the big-screen adaptation of Stephen King's Misery. What's lesser known, however, is her starring role in another King adaptation, Delores Claiborne.

Bates plays the eponymous heroine, a domestic servant on trial for the murder of her wealthy employer - a trial that's tangled up in the unsolved murder of Delores' husband, another murder for which she was the main suspect.

It's something of a departure from the usual spooky King fare, but it's an expertly woven story of betrayal, heartbreak, abuse and justice, and Bates plays her part excellently.

Of course, Bates has starred in numerous excellent films, but Delores Claiborne is one that consistently flies under the radar, despite being a critical success. It touches on a few difficult subjects, but it makes for an excellent watch.
