10 Great Movies Starring The Brooklyn Nine-Nine Cast
2. Idiocracy
The increasingly prescient Idiocracy is another great cult comedy from Mike Judge, for whom the underappreciated gem is a stock in trade. The 2006 film sees Luke Wilson as a present day man sent into the future, where ever-increasing anti-intellectualism has seen this average Joe emerge as the smartest guy on Earth.
Along with Wilson and co-star Maya Rudolph (herself a two time Nine-Nine guest star), Idiocracy features a terrific supporting turn from Terry Crews. The hulking actor is always in demand and often demonstrates questionable quality control, but as bombastic president Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho he’s right in his element. It’s a high octane performance, brash but made entirely likeable thanks to the man’s innate charisma and indelible comedic touch.
Idiocracy has steadily gained a reputation as a great, smart comedy following its abortive cinematic release, and as the world descends ever further into all out nonsense, it only looks more impressive by the year.
