10 Great Movies Starring The Cast Of Buffy The Vampire Slayer

3. The Air I Breathe

Here’s an ambitious, uneven, but often excellent film from director Jieho Lee. The Air I Breathe is a slightly ‘90s feeling crime drama split into four parts, which attempt to reflect the emotional cornerstones of life (happiness, pleasure, sorrow, and love) through loosely connected stories each with a different star.

Sarah Michelle Gellar personifies “sorrow” in her segment as an up and coming pop star with a difficult life (to say the least). Lee packs a hell of a lot of drama into each of his segments, and this is one of the meatier, more distinctive rolls the former Buffy Summers has had to play with since her show finished.

The Air I Breathe boasts an impressive cast (with a fair few stars you don’t see too much anymore - Andy Garcia, Brendan Fraser) which it utilises excellently, particularly the oft-underrated Garcia.

Critics didn’t care too much for this one, and admittedly some of their major qualms - it’s somewhat pretentious - are fair. But if you go in expecting a curio that’s enjoyable for both the right and wrong reasons, this has a lot to offer.
