10 Great Movies Starring The Stranger Things Cast

9. Edward Scissorhands

Fear Street Part 2: 1978 Sadie Sink
20th Century Fox

Another obvious choice and the film that pushed the career of Winona Ryder into overdrive.

Ryder had previously collaborated with Tim Burton in the 1988 cult classic Beetlejuice, in the role of Lydia Deetz. Two years later the duo would reunite, joined by the rising star of Johnny Depp for the timeless classic, Edward Scissorhands.

As Kim Boggs, Ryder played the primary love interest of Depp's Edward (fitting as the two were dating off-screen as well). Kim and Edward fall for each other but she boyfriend Jim quickly becomes jealous of the bond that grows between them and the two fight over her, Edward to protect her and Jim to control her.

Winona Ryder's performance remains as wonderful now as it was then, and her reaction to seeing snow for the first time while Edward carves an ice sculpture is almost balletic in it's presentation (suitable since the film was later turned into a ballet).

Edward Scissorhands would remain the peak of Ryder's career until her her mid-2010s resurgence, leading to her role as Joyce Byers in Stranger Things.
