6. Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997)
Nowadays, Mike Myers might seem like little more than a hack comedian who makes his living doing voice work for childrens movies about fat green men. But believe me when I tell you there was a time where he was considered a comic genius. That time was roughly about 1997, when Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery hit theaters. Capitalizing Americas renewed interested in James Bond after the release of GoldenEye two years earlier, Austin Powers poked fun at spy films while telling a sort of fish out of water story of a man trapped in a strange time. Filled with unforgettable characters like villainous henchmen who use their shoe as a weapon, and sexually charged strip scenes - in which Mike Myers lets it all hang out - it's hilarious. Sure, they beat the whole thing into the ground with two sequels, but the original stays strong even today. Mike Myers is never better than when he's playing both the main protagonist and antagonist in a film packed with awkward moments, sexual tension and sheer stupidity. Not to mention that half the world couldn't stop quoting this little flick for at least five years. Id bet one million dollars youll agree Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery is comedy done right. Yeah, baby!
