10 Great Teen Horror Movies (No One Ever Talks About)

5. Jeepers Creepers

Released in 2001, the original Jeepers Creepers is essentially a tense and fun remake of Steven Spielberg's early TV movie Duel... For its first half, anyway.

The film follows a young Justin Long and his sister on a strained, never-ending road trip across America which quickly goes south (figuratively, not literally) when they run afoul of a broken down old truck and its angry owner.

Soon they are almost run off the road by the driver, who pursues them endlessly and is even seen hiding what seems to be a body.

Then night time comes, and this backwoods thriller suddenly becomes an intense and unexpected monster movie as the viewer discovers this driver is actually some sort of demonic winged entity.

The end result is an undeniably effective thrill ride, simpler than many of the more meta and clever teen horrors of its day but all the more effective as a result. No clever self referentiality will save you now, Justin.
