5. The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button

Film Directed By: David Fincher
Original Work By: F. Scott Fitzgerald A second Fincher film on the list! There's no denying he's had a flop or two, especially with Fight Club, which I found atrocious, but with Benjamin Button, an adaptation of F. Scott's wonderful short story, he has labelled himself as a great filmmaker. The film was criticized for its length and boring story, which some found perverse, but I think this is one of the great triumphs of twenty-first century cinema so-far, a story which would have, prior to SFX, been literally unfilmable. The original story is far better than the film, and one expects no less from a mind like Fitzgerald, but the film definitely deserves its place on here, especially for Brad Pitt's wonderful acting.
