10 Greatest Films For Fashion Lovers

3. Yves Saint Laurent

Clueless Film
Miramax

The biographical account of Yves Saint Laurent's work life begins in 1958 at the start of his career, and follows his journey to the top of his own fashion empire. after his dismissal from Dior, he set out on his own and founded his own design house, and together with Pierre Bergé, his lover and business partner, he was able to conquer the fashion world and build a legacy lasting a lifetime.

Featuring some beautiful cinematography, the film also boasts original YSL clothes from the archives, lent to the production team by the label, making the whole experience feel much more authentic.

It was released at the same time as another biopic about the designer, however this one was authorised and part-financed by Bergé. The two films have gained lots of comparisons and criticisms, and both films delve deeply enough into the designers tumultous private life to be entertaining, but the one to watch if you want to appreciate the art of fashion is this version, without a doubt.

Niamh Stewart hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
