10 Greatest Found Footage Films

6. Apollo 18 (2011)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpVnot2u5B8 Ever since John Carpenter's The Thing I've always wanted to see a successful Sci-Fi horror movie, and while there's been notable films that made a really good work at it none of them has accomplished what the 1982 classic could make. And while this particular film didn't succeeded, it made an exceptional work at it. I really loved Apollo 18, when the first trailers and posters came out I expected something that out of a cheap Sci-Fi film in which very cheap effects that were trying to scare us while we were supposed to worry about a bunch of undeveloped characters played by mediocre actors. However I'm really glad that I was wrong. Apollo 18 tells the story of 2 astronauts who went to the moon in a secret operation, however the terrifying events that unfolded became the main reason why the US never went back to the moon The story was incredibly good for once, the development and escalation was really good and the little environment in which the movie was set in made things much more stressing for the viewer. The effects were the necessary for a movie like this, and the little we saw the creatures of the movie made it much more interesting. The acting was also really good, and we really cared for the characters, so while the inevitable ending of the movie was a bit predictable, it was still really effective. I simply loved it.
