When James Rhodes first took one of Tony Stark’s Iron Man suits off his hands in Iron Man 2, it wasn’t exactly in the best of circumstances. The colonel had stuck his neck out for Tony in protecting him from the US government, but all Tony could do was get drunk and treat everything like a joke.

In what some might call a d**k move, Rhodey had his stolen Iron Man suit kitted out by Hammer Tech, hence why his big finishing move, the ex-wife, fizzled out to nothing. Once boasting the proper Stark tech however, Rhodes truly became an absolute War Machine.

His stories may have underwhelmed the Avengers he told, but he eventually aided the team in Sokovia before becoming an official member moving forward. He fought against Thanos in Wakanda and at Avengers HQ, and was an integral member of the Time Heist on Morag.

James Rhodes has been so much more than just Iron Man’s sidekick, and he will get to prove as much even further in Armor Wars, likely making it his personal mission to stop whoever got their hands on Stark Tech in the wake of Tony’s death. Rhodes is a badass, and anyone who gets on his bad side is likely going to regret it.
